Description

The Well Woman Profile is an extensive blood test designed specifically for women who want a comprehensive overview of their health. It assesses key systems, hormones, and nutritional markers that can reveal early signs of conditions which often develop slowly and without obvious symptoms.

By screening across blood health, metabolism, cardiovascular risk, inflammation, thyroid function, reproductive hormones, nutrient status, and organ function, this profile supports preventative healthcare at every life stage. Early detection allows you to take control of your health, make informed lifestyle changes, and seek timely treatment to protect long-term wellbeing.

This profile is suitable for women of all ages and is commonly used as a baseline health check, an investigation into symptoms such as fatigue or menstrual changes, or as part of proactive long-term health monitoring.

Why This Test?

Many health conditions that affect women progress quietly for years before symptoms become noticeable. Hormonal changes, nutrient deficiencies, and metabolic imbalance can all contribute to symptoms that are often overlooked or attributed to stress or ageing.

This profile provides insight into several key areas of women’s health:

Blood health and immunity – A full blood count helps detect anaemia, early blood disorders, immune system activity, and clotting abnormalities.

Diabetes and metabolic health  – HbA1c identifies diabetes or pre-diabetes, allowing early lifestyle intervention to reduce long-term health risks.

Thyroid function – Thyroid disorders are more common in women and can be difficult to diagnose based on symptoms alone. Imbalance may cause fatigue, weight changes, hair loss, menstrual irregularities, anxiety, or low mood.

Cholesterol and heart health – High cholesterol significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke and often causes no symptoms. Blood testing is essential for accurate assessment.

Inflammation – Low-grade inflammation can increase cardiovascular risk and may be linked to autoimmune conditions or chronic illness.

Female hormone balance – Oestradiol, LH, and FSH provide insight into menstrual health, fertility, perimenopause, and menopause.

Iron and nutritional status – Iron, vitamins, and minerals are essential for energy, brain function, immunity, and blood health. Deficiencies are common in women and may cause fatigue, hair loss, or poor concentration.

Liver and kidney function – These organs process hormones, medications, and waste products. Early dysfunction may be present without symptoms.

Bone, muscle, and gout risk – Markers help assess bone strength, muscle stress, and metabolic imbalance.

Our home finger-prick tests use the same accredited laboratories as our clinic tests. While clinic tests allow for more comprehensive panels, home tests are highly accurate for the parameters they measure.

No, you don’t need a GP referral. You can book directly with us for any blood test. We are a private clinic offering direct access to comprehensive blood testing.

We will only draw blood from those aged 16 and above due to legal requirements.

If you have used our clinic to complete a blood test, we send off all samples the same day to the lab to be processed. If you have used a home test kit, then once your sample has been sent off the lab will analyse your sample. Results are usually received within 72 hours.

Your home blood test kit will contain easy-to-follow instructions on how to take your own finger blood sample. If you have any concerns or questions prior to using the kit, please contact our phlebotomists who will be happy to assist.

There is no preparation required prior to taking any of the blood tests. Please simply remember to stay hydrated prior to your appointment. This is to help your veins dilate better to enable a quick and efficient blood sample to be taken and reduce the risks of feeling faint following your blood test.

Please inform the phlebotomist before your test if you are currently taking any blood thinning medication.

Fasting is not required for most blood tests. However, if your profile includes cholesterol tests and you’ve previously had high levels, consider fasting for 8 hours beforehand. While not essential, fasting can provide more accurate results.

Note: Fasting means abstaining from any food and drink, except for water.
