- Uses of This Test
The Vitamins & Minerals Blood Test measures key nutrients that are essential for energy production, immune function, bone strength, and overall health. This profile helps identify whether vitamin or mineral levels are low, optimal, or elevated, allowing targeted action to restore and maintain nutritional balance.
Nutrient imbalances are common and often develop gradually, sometimes without obvious symptoms. Blood testing provides an accurate assessment of current nutrient status and supports informed decisions around diet, supplementation, and lifestyle changes to optimise wellbeing.
This profile is commonly used for baseline nutritional screening, monitoring supplementation, or investigating symptoms that may be linked to deficiency or imbalance.
Vitamins and minerals are involved in hundreds of biological processes throughout the body and are essential for maintaining everyday health and long-term wellbeing.
They play key roles in:
- Supporting immune function
- Maintaining healthy bones and teeth
- Assisting nerve signalling and muscle contraction
- Supporting red blood cell production
- Contributing to energy levels and overall vitality
When levels fall outside optimal ranges, symptoms may include fatigue, muscle weakness, low mood, frequent infections, bone discomfort, or neurological symptoms. Because these changes can be subtle, blood testing is one of the most reliable ways to identify imbalance and guide appropriate intervention.
Vitamin D Deficiency
Low vitamin D levels that may affect bone health, immunity, and muscle function.
Iron Deficiency
Reduced iron stores or availability that may contribute to fatigue and reduced oxygen delivery.
Vitamin B12 Deficiency
Low B12 levels that may affect energy, nerve function, and red blood cell production.
Folate Deficiency
Impaired folate status that can affect cell division and blood health.
Magnesium Imbalance
Low magnesium levels that may contribute to muscle cramps, fatigue, or nerve-related symptoms.
- Assess overall nutritional status
- Investigate fatigue or low energy
- Identify vitamin or mineral deficiencies
- Support immune health assessment
- Monitor supplementation effectiveness
- Assess bone and muscle health support
- Investigate diet-related nutrient imbalance
What We Test
Biomarkers analysed by accredited UK laboratories
Biomarkers Tested
Iron Status
These markers assess iron stores and availability, which are essential for oxygen transport and energy production.
- Iron
Measures circulating iron available for red blood cell production and oxygen delivery.
- Ferritin
Reflects iron storage levels and helps detect deficiency before anaemia develops.
- Total Iron-Binding Capacity (TIBC)
Indicates the blood’s capacity to transport iron.
- Unsaturated Iron-Binding Capacity (UIBC)
Helps assess how much iron-binding capacity remains available in the blood.
- Transferrin Saturation
Shows the proportion of iron that is bound and available for use by the body.
- Iron
Vitamins
These vitamins support energy metabolism, immune function, and blood health.
- Vitamin D (25-OH)
Essential for bone strength, immune resilience, and muscle function; low levels are commonly associated with fatigue.
- Vitamin B12
Supports red blood cell production, nerve function, and energy metabolism.
- Folate
Plays a key role in DNA synthesis, cell division, and red blood cell formation.
- Vitamin D (25-OH)
Minerals
Minerals involved in muscle function, nerve signalling, and metabolic processes.
- Magnesium
Supports muscle relaxation, nerve signalling, and energy production; low levels may contribute to cramps and fatigue.

How accurate are home finger-prick tests compared to clinic tests?
Our home finger-prick tests use the same accredited laboratories as our clinic tests. While clinic tests allow for more comprehensive panels, home tests are highly accurate for the parameters they measure.
Do I need a GP referral for a blood test?
No, you don’t need a GP referral. You can book directly with us for any blood test. We are a private clinic offering direct access to comprehensive blood testing.
How old do I have to be to have a blood test?
We will only draw blood from those aged 16 and above due to legal requirements.
How long does it take for the blood test results to come?
If you have used our clinic to complete a blood test, we send off all samples the same day to the lab to be processed. If you have used a home test kit, then once your sample has been sent off the lab will analyse your sample. Results are usually received within 72 hours.
How do I perform the home finger-prick test?
Your home blood test kit will contain easy-to-follow instructions on how to take your own finger blood sample. If you have any concerns or questions prior to using the kit, please contact our phlebotomists who will be happy to assist.
How do I prepare for a blood test?
There is no preparation required prior to taking any of the blood tests. Please simply remember to stay hydrated prior to your appointment. This is to help your veins dilate better to enable a quick and efficient blood sample to be taken and reduce the risks of feeling faint following your blood test.
Please inform the phlebotomist before your test if you are currently taking any blood thinning medication.
Should I fast before my blood test?
Fasting is not required for most blood tests. However, if your profile includes cholesterol tests and you’ve previously had high levels, consider fasting for 8 hours beforehand. While not essential, fasting can provide more accurate results.
Note: Fasting means abstaining from any food and drink, except for water.
